A post about series

Hi guys!
As you might know a lot of series have started again with a new season. So I’m here to tell you where to find them and what to watch. I write about dutch tv and dutch Netflix, so I’m sorry if you don’t live in the Netherlands. (Although you shouldn’t feel sorry for yourself if you live in America, because America does it better. Always.)

First of all: Suits. This is a serie about lawyers, but it’s certainly not boring! The first three seasons are on Netflix, but you can also watch it on tv. Recently the second season started on RTL4 on Thursday night from 8:30 PM until 10:30 PM. I’d give this tv-show 3,5 out of 5 stars.

Devious Maids also started a new season a while ago. Season three is on tv now, but if you haven’t watched season one and two it’s kind of hard to fall right in the middle of all the drama. I would really recommend this serie though. As I said before, it’s like Gossip Girl, but this time through the eyes of the maids. I’d give this tv-show 4 out of 5 stars.

There are rumours there’s a new serie to be made. The CW will be creating it and they’re the creators of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, so that’s a very good sign. The series is gonna be based on the movie The Notebook and the writer (of the original book the movie was based on), Nicholas Sparks, will be producing it. I am not very thrilled about it being based on The Notebook, because we already have a book and a movie about it. I had hoped it would be something totally new. But, hey, maybe it will be much better than I expect, we’ll see. If I have to guess what it’s gonna be like I’d give this tv-show 3 out of 5 stars.

The first three seasons of Once Upon A Time are on Netflix and I think it’s a really good show. I’m curently watching season three and it just keeps on getting better and better. It’s about fairytale characters being brought to the real world by a curse of the evil queen. Althought that may sound like a disney movie for kids, it’s really brought to life and made a lot less childish than it sounds. I give this show a 4 out of 5.

Netflix added season three to New Girl, so if you got stuck at the end of season two now is the time to continue watching. It’s about a girl who moves in with three guys and it’s really funny. I did like the first season better than the other ones, because it’s funnier when they are all just exaggerated versions of themself. I give this tv-show 2,5 out of 5.

And ofcourse series like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars are on Netflix and they get 5 out of 5. Also a few years ago Revenge (definitely a 5 out of 5!) was on tv for two seasons, until they stopped broadcasting it on tv and ripped my heart out with it. Dutch tv is so unreliable. Good shows like Revenge, Glee and Switch At Birth get broadcasted for a couple of seasons and then just never return. Like, hello I was watching that and waiting for it to return, give it back! I’ll just stick to Netflix.

Stories behind clothes

Hey guys,
There’s a story behind all of my clothing and that’s why I have such a hard time getting rid of stuff I don’t like or don’t fit anymore. I thought it would be fun to share a few of these stories with you.

IMG_3833The first one is this sweater I bought at Mango. I was supossed to meet up with a friend, but she was late so I went for a little shopping. I walked into Mango and there was a sale going on. Lucky me! I saw this sweater and immediatly loved it. I have been wanting to wear it ever since I bought it, but unfortunatly it hasn’t been cold enough outside yet.

IMG_3835The second story I want to tell is the story of this dress I  bought for graduation. I was looking for a dress the day before graduation, because the one I ordered was not quite what I wanted and neither what I expected. So I was really late with dress shopping and by the time I almost had to go home I hadn’t found the right dress yet. So I guess you could say I was panicking. The last stop I was making that day was at Bijenkorf and luckily I found this dress there and I loved it. The problem was that it didn’t have a pricetag. I looked up the brand on google and it were all very acceptable prices and this dress even had a discount of thirthy percent. So I went to the register feeling quite confident that I was taking this dress home. But when they told me the price at the register I almost had a heart attack. Turns out the beading was all handmade and the stones on it were Swarovski.. I wanted and needed to have this dress so badly, so I asked the cashier if there was nothing she could do. Which she could. She went to talk to her manager and came back with a discount of twenty percent on top of the thirthy percent discount. You could imagine how happy I was. It was still an expensive dress, but I never regretted buying it.

IMG_3836The next thing is this black blouse. I bought it to wear to my work at a lunchroom. But when I quit I kept on wearing it in my daily life, because I actually quite liked the look on me. I even bought a white one too. I guess you could say my work opened my eyes to new fashion possibilities. IMG_3840

This blue dress is one I bought with two friends to celebrate new years eve together. I kept on wearing it after that. When a year and a half later my best friend died in an accident I realized I only wore it when I did stuff with her. So I decided to wear it to her cremation. I wasn’t sure if it wouldn’t be inappropriate since it’s not black, but the family and friends understood. I haven’t worn it since.

This blue dress has quite a different story from the previous one. I celebrated my sixteenth birthday wearing this dress. The only size available in this colour was too small. But I bought it anyway, because it fitted and it was the only one left. I grew out of this dress quicker than you can say macarons. I just can’t seem to get rid of it. I’m kinda attached to it. It’s laying in the back of my closet now. IMG_3843

I bought this short and top the first time I went to Forever 21. Although I didn’t really like the store and it’s clothing I did like these pieces. They became favorites last summer and I have worn them quite a lot. Sometimes you have to be lucky and find that one item in a store that you need/want.

IMG_3844This skirt from H&M cost me so much effort. I first tried it on in the store, but didn’t buy it. I regretted not buying it, so I ordered it online. When it arrived it had a factory mistake and I had to order it again. By the time I got it, every one else had bought it too and I was doubting if I should even buy it. Now I would kinda seem like a copycat. But since no one ever seems to care about wearing the same things or being a copycat I bought it. And I still love the skirt. It feels so Gossip-Girl-school-girl-uniform like.

This shirt is three years old I think, but it’s laying in the back of my closet. I bought this to wear to my first day of work at this very cute lunchroom where I really wanted to work. Two years later I got the job (I wore the black blouse I mentioned earlier instead of this shirt though) and it turned out to be horrible. It wasn’t at all what I had expected from working there (the bosses were horrible). So that dream kind of went up in flames..

IMG_3846Me and two friends were out shopping a few years ago and we thought it would be fun to have the same shirts to seal our friendship. So we all bought this shirt. It doesn’t fit anymore, but I just can’t get rid of it. It has sentimentsl values. I found out a while ago that the rest of us didn’t really have a problem with getting rid of it since I’m the only one that still has this shirt. I’m such a good friend. (Mean Girls Reference!)

I hope you enjoyed reading these stories.

Current obsessions #2

Hey guys,
It’s been a month since I posted my first ‘current obsessions’ post and I would like to make this a monthly thing. So here are my obsessions from the past few weeks!

Book     Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
I’ve read this book during my vacation in Greece and I absolutely loved it. The love story is about the redhead Eleanor and the popular kid Park, set in the year 1984. Although the story contains some very serious aspects, overall it’s very cute (look at the cover) and definitely a must-read!

eleanor&park

Food    Watermelon Gum
Although it’s not really ‘food’, I had to add this because it has been my obsession lately. The Trident Senses Watermelon Sunrise gum is sooooo delicious. The one disadvantage is the very strong scent; my whole bag smelled like watermelon after an hour.

Tv show     Skins
Recently my brother bought a Netflix account and since then I’ve been having marathons almost every single day. The show I’ve been following is Skins, it’s about a group of teenagers in Bristol. That doesn’t sound very exciting but trust me: the show is really good. However I’m not sure if I’m going to watch the third season with a new cast, most of the time that sort of ruins the show.

Vacation haul

Hi guys!

I just got back from France so I’m sorry this post is uploaded a little later today. It’s a bit dark already so the quality of the pictures isn’t really great. Anyway I want to show you what I bought this summer in Italy, Spain and France. I bought most things in France though. In Spain and Italy I mostly bought cocktails which you can probably tell from my instagram…

IMG_0925IMG_0934

IMG_0933I bought two bags, because I just can’t resist a pretty bag. The second thing I bought was a scarf for this autumn and winter season. I also saw this shirt and, since I like all the cities on them, I immediately loved it. The bottle in the middle is violet sirup which you can use to make purple cocktails (cocktailparty!). IMG_0931We also visited a super cute store in Saumur in France and the owner of the store was a super hot guy so ofcourse I had to buy something. There I bought the little blue lipgloss. It’s shaped like a macaroon and it’s blueberry flavoured. The book on the picture is open and has space to keep something in. It has a really pretty map on the front of Europe. IMG_0929Lastly I bought a lot of Yankee Candle. These get soft when you heat them up and they smell delicious. I bought turquoise sky, red rasberry, shea butter, fireside treats and black coconut. So my room will smell like heaven for the upcoming year or so.
And that’s it! See you next time.
