Fun date ideas

Hey everyone!

If you’re planning on going on a date, but can’t think of anything fun to do: I’m here to help you! Some of these ideas might be obvious, but I’m gonna add them anyway to make this list a complete one. This list is suitable for people who are going on first dates, but also for people who want to do something fun with their longterm bf/gf, but have run out of inspiration on what to do.

Idea #1: Cinema date
This one’s a classic and you almost can’t go wrong with it. If it’s akward you don’t have to talk. It’s not really great for bonding though, so if you really wanna get to know eachother I would recommend going for something else.

Idea #2: Going for lunch/coffee/drinks
This is not one to pick if you expect or fear akward silences, but great for getting to know eachother, when you found out it actually wasn’t akward on your first date. This is kinda more a follow-up date. But hey, I did this as a first date once and it went great, so it’s up to you to decide.

Idea #3: Ice skating
Obviously this one’s only suitable for winter, but it’s fun and also kinda more romantic than everything else. And afterwards there’s enough time to get hot chocolates and gaze into eachother’s eyes while holding hands. Bonuspoints for going in the evening with lights everywhere. It doesn’t get more romantic than this.

Idea #4: Getting breakfast
You can do this at Ikea or Hema or something like that and the biggest pro to this one is that it’s super cheap. If you don’t have a lot of money to blow, but you still wanna do something fun this is a great idea. You have to get up pretty early though.

Idea #5: Bake something together
Not really suitable as a first date, but great for longterm couples. Great to see how well you are able to work together. Bonus: delicious food to eat after it’s done.

Idea #6: Sushi date
If he’s into sushi, you’re into sushi and you’re into eachother: this one’s for you!

Idea #7: Shopping trip
I don’t know about you, but I always drag my boyfriends on a shopping trip. It’s so much fun and it’s a pretty good test to see what they like. Don’t force them to come along if they really don’t want to though.. That’s gonna end bad.

Idea #8: Go picknicking
Super romantic to do during summertime.

Idea #9: Netflix and chill
Pick a tv show to watch together or choose a movie to watch. Try to actually watch it. 😉

Idea #10: Getting ice cream
Kinda the same thing as getting coffee/lunch/drinks/breakfast, but this is the summer edition. Great to catch up and enjoy the sun.

Idea #11: Parties and festivals
Might not be the most romantic or conventional date, but you will have a lot of fun and possibly get to see eachother drunk. You could learn a lot about your date..

Idea #12: Cook for eachother
This is another one more suitable for couples. Don’t try to impress too much, it’s okay to keep it simple. As long as it’s not a total disaster that ends in ordering pizza, it will probably be a success.

Idea #13: Beach date
If it’s autumn you can take a walk along the shore and warm up with a hot chocolate, if it’s summer you can go swimming and tanning and end the day at a beach bar with a cocktail or something.

Idea #14: A day/weekend in a strange city
Just pick a random city in your own country and hop on the train. Explore the city together and maybe even book a hotel to stay a night to really get that vacation feeling.

Let’s try to mix the netflix and chill dates with actually doing something and talk. Let’s really get to know eachother!

Some Lessons I’ve Learned About Traveling

Hi guys,

I just got back from my United States roadtrip of seven weeks. In that time, I learned a lot. Not only about myself but also about other people and just some travel hacks that could make your trip even more enjoyable!

  1. Make sure you always bring a map with you. It doesn’t matter if you use a paper one or just Google Maps (which saved me a lot of times). In case you get lost, you can find your way back or at least get close to a more well-known area. Don’t get me wrong, being spontaneous and maybe even a little careless is a huge part of traveling. But there is a difference between getting lost in Brooklyn and getting lost in some park in Arizona when it’s about to get dark.
  2. When you are staying in hostels like I did, it’s very important to be open-minded and flexible. Sure, if it makes you happy you can do the ten things Tripadvisor suggests you to do in that city. Or you can socialize with people during breakfast and just ask what they are up to. Maybe you can go with them. Maybe they know a good place to get coffee. Maybe they have other recommendations. But if you don’t put yourself out there and stick to your plan, you will miss out on a lot of amazing people, places and memories.
  3. Bring scissors and band-aids. Believe me, you are going to need them.
  4. Coming back to my first lesson, I have found studying a map before you leave your hostel to be very helpful. In my mind I made up this route, because I didn’t want to be the tourist who looks down at her phone all the time. Especially in huge cities like New York it is important that you know your way around a little bit. I have had New Yorkers asking me for directions and even the cab driver, who was born and raised there, had to look up the address.
  5. Always be on time. It doesn’t matter if you’re about to meet your friends or maybe you have a plane to catch. Keep in mind that the bus could be late, there could be traffic, and maybe your friends have to go home at a certain time. A ‘rule’ I like to follow is to leave ten minutes before you think you have to go. That way, missing your plane for example will be unlikely.

I hope you learned something today!

My week in New York #2

So after realizing I hadn’t eaten anything all day, I decided to go back to the hostel and find some food. I took the right Subway back (yay!) and bought some groceries like a real adult.

At 3pm I had finally eaten and I was ready to explore New York again. Visiting the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) was on my wishlist. Luckily I had found out that admission was free that evening, so I went there with one of my roommates, Robin. After two hours of seeing incredible art and a lot of people, we were tired and hungry and all we wanted to do was grab some food and go back to the hostel.

Walking on Fifth Avenue in the evening is so cool. There are Christmas lights everywhere and it looks so different from the Upper West Side. Seeing the buildings and streets you saw in movies, and now right in front of you, it’s surreal.

Don’t eat close to Fifth Avenue, because a sandwich is ridiculously expensive. It was a good sandwich and I knew beforehand that New York was gonna be pricey, but still. We got back at the hostel around 9pm, and I was so tired that I immediately went to bed. Yeah, my first day in New York was a good one.

4 Reasons To Join Tumblr

Hey guys,
As I told you quite a few times, Tumblr is my favorite website. There is something about posting a thought that has been stuck in your mind for hours and knowing that none of your friends or family will see it. At least, that’s for me the case. No one I know in real life follows me on Tumblr and I’d like to keep it that way. So if you need to be convinced to join the most amazing website ever, here are my four reasons.

  1. There is a blog for everyone
If you are looking for adorable animals doing adorable stuff, follow this blog. If you like humor, aesthetic, or are you fangirling over a band or tv show? Believe me, there is a blog for you.
  2. So. Much. Privacy.
Or not, depending on your preference. You can use a meme as your profile picture, your own face, or whatever you want. The only thing Tumblr wants to know about you is your email adress. Nothing else. No phone number, not where you live, no real names.
  3. You learn a lot
Tumblr is a place where no one knows each other and everyone can be themselves without judgement from others. In the past few years I’ve spent on Tumblr, I learned about things they won’t tell you about in school or in the news. Such as how it really is to live with depression or being a transgender. I think it’s important for everyone to learn about these issues, and as a result your ability to have empathy for others increases.
  4. No more bad days
Or at least, they will be less bad when you see posts like this one. If you follow a lot of humor blogs like I do, I can guarantee that you will feel better after five minutes. Posts that contain cute animals or jokes that you will want to remember to tell someone else are not that hard to find, so just scroll through and smile!

Halloween Essentials

Hi everyone!
As you all know, it’s halloween today and it’s my turn to post today. So, obviously this is gonna be a halloween post. Here are some essentials you will need today.

-Cool friends to scare the crap out of.
-Creepy food like this or this .
-Lot’s of candy to go into a sugar coma.
-A couple of scary movies. As Miss Charming mentioned in her Current Obsessions #3 post, you can find a couple of examples on Buzzfeed.
Spooky decor stuff to hang around your house.
-Maybe some booze to get the party started.
-Your phone to take a lot of funny, terrifying, frightning pictures. Don’t forget to lose it somewhere at a party! That would be nightmarish 😉
-An ominous outfit to make a great impression and win that prize for best costume.

So those are a few things you might need today. Whatever your plans are for today, I hope you have fun. I’m going to a halloween party tonight and got most of the things on my list, so I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun! Happy halloween everyone!

NYC Playlist

Hi guys,
So in two weeks I’ll be going to New York City for the first time and I can’t tell you how excited I am. I listen to music everywhere I go, and when I’m going on a trip I always make a playlist. That way, when I listen to the playlist after the trip, I’ll be reminded of the amazing time I had. So here’s the music I will be listening to in New York City!

Full Moon Fever – Tom Petty
This album is perfect for roadtrips and relaxing and just as background music on a long flight. The songs I’ll be listening to the most are Free Fallin’Running Down A Dream and The Apartment Song.

Against the Current
This is such an amazing band and I love listening to both their covers and their original songs. InfinityAnother You and the cover of All Too Well are my current favorites.

All Right Now by Free
This song was definitely this year’s summer jam. So even though I’ve listened to this song so many times last summer, it’s still the perfect relaxing song that will make you feel like you have no worries at all.

Fast Car
Also the perfect song for roadtrips. I love the cover by Boyce Avenue and Kina Grannis, so I’ll be adding this song to my playlist.

Livewire by Oh Wonder
Just listen to this song and you will (hopefully) understand my obsession with it.

The 1975
I am a huge fan of this band and I love all of their songs. But if I had to pick three, The CityGirls and Heart Out would be my favorites.

Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen
As I mentioned before in the post about my Current Obsessions, I love this album and I’ve been listening to it almost non-stop.
